David Ramirez of El Paso Named 2021 Driver of the Year

February 4, 2022

United Petroleum Transports (UPT) is proud to announce that David Ramirez, a lease owner in El Paso, has been named our 2021 Driver of the Year.

David was awarded UPT’s highest honor during our Annual Awards Celebration in Nashville, TN on Saturday, January 29, 2022.  He was one of twelve finalists who were selected from among UPT’s team of over 500 professional drivers. This is David’s third time as a Driver of the Year finalist, and his first time winning the coveted Driver of the Year award.

He has been driving professionally for 35 years, 18 of which have been with UPT. The customers he serves in El Paso can always count on him to provide a seamless delivery every time.  His work ethic, skill, and commitment to safety are unmatched, and he is the prime example of what UPT seeks in each of our professional drivers.

David has been married to his wife, Celia, for 39 years.  The couple has three children and two grandchildren.  Celia was able to be with David at the awards ceremony when UPT’s CEO, Greg Price, announced David as the 2021 Driver of the Year.  Along with Greg Price, our President, Matt Herndon, and COO, David Price, presented Mr. Ramirez with the Driver of the Year trophy and a gift of $25,643 in cash and prizes.

“It’s always one of the highlights of the year to be able to present the Driver of the Year award,” said Greg Price, UPT’s CEO. “David is a great man, and we are so blessed to have him as a part of our professional driver family.”

Many of our customers, vendors, and friends donated gifts to be included in the overall prize, and we are thankful for their continued support.
