UPT Announces New San Antonio Customer Service Center Manager
December 12, 2019Distribution and fuel delivery industry veteran Sergio Rivas has been named manager of United Petroleum Transports’ San Antonio Customer Service Center.
In his new role, Rivas will oversee a team of professional drivers, fleet managers and technicians who serve United Petroleum Transports (UPT) customers in the San Antonio area. Customer Service Center managers also serve as the point of contact for UPT customers, ensuring the company’s stringent guidelines for safety and customer service are adhered to.
An El Paso native, Rivas started his professional career early in the El Paso restaurant owned by his mother and father. When his parents retired, the family closed the 30-year-old restaurant, Frances’ Restaurant, and Rivas moved to the distribution industry with Cardinal Health. In his 15-year career there, Rivas started as an entry-level employee and worked his way to distribution manager before joining Fritz Companies’ El Paso distribution center.
After 10 years at Fritz, Rivas spent another 10 years at Air Road Express. When the company sold to Celadon Trucking, Rivas shifted his focus from freight distribution to the tank truck industry, spending 13 years as an assistant terminal manager for Groendyke at the company’s El Paso terminal.
“I want to continue to advance in my career, and joining UPT gives me the opportunity to do that,” Rivas said. “We want to add drivers in San Antonio. We want to expand our customer base here. Helping UPT expand and grow gives me the opportunity to expand and grow my career.”
UPT Chief Operating Officer David Price said Rivas’ four decades of experience in distribution and fuel delivery made him a natural choice to lead the company’s customer service center in San Antonio.
“We are pleased to welcome Sergio to the UPT Family,” Price said. “Sergio brings a wealth of knowledge that will assist UPT in expanding our operations in the San Antonio market.”
